Hundreds respond to our call to become Indiana foster parents

The Villages’ team is responding to more than 600 inquiries from people across the state, thanks to our Power of One campaign that includes recent news stories about the rising need for foster parents in Indiana. Several staff members at The Villages, including President and CEO Sharon Pierce and Regional Foster Care Recruiter and Licensing Specialist Jenn Rasey, participated in media interviews discussing the growing drug epidemic and its impact on the number of children entering the system.

The response from potential Indiana foster parents was almost immediate with social media, email and phone calls from people asking how they can help the more than 23,000 children in need of services.

Interest is at such an all-time high that our Bloomington location had its largest foster-parent information session ever. Statewide, The Villages’ team saw an increase this month in inquiries with Indianapolis and Terre Haute receiving more than 300 requests to help.  Six families in Elkhart committed to starting RAPT Training , a required 20-hour course toward becoming a foster parent.

Our staff is responding to each inquiry and has added information and training sessions to accommodate interest. Click here to view upcoming information sessions in your area. We are excited about welcoming more Hoosier families to The Villages as we strive each day to provide abused and neglected children with safe and loving homes.
