Foster with
Abundant Support

Fostering a child is one of the most meaningful decisions a person can make — and one of the most daunting. We’ve spent over 45 years building up our foster parent support services in Indiana.

When caring for children, there will be times of stress and unknowns. But with The Villages, you never have to face these situations alone. You can reach a real person from The Villages 24/7 — whether you have a quick question or you’re facing an unexpected crisis.

We’re always just a call away. And if you need us there in person, we’ll show up. We’re also proud of our low case manager turnover rate — so you know who to call, and you can count on that relationship to last.

We provide 20 hours of free pre-service training before your first placement — covering topics such as trauma-informed care, understanding and managing behaviors, and other relevant topics. They’re designed to make you feel genuinely prepared.

After that, free annual training continues every year. All sessions are virtual and offered on a flexible schedule. Foster parenting is a big commitment — we don’t expect you to just learn as you go.

Fostering can come with unexpected costs, and we never want finances to stand in the way of saying yes to a child in need. Depending on circumstances that may arise, The Villages’ donor-funded support may be granted to help you in your time of need.

We can also provide access to donated clothing, toiletries, and other essentials so you can focus on the kids, not scrambling for supplies. This is just one of the many benefits of being part our village.

Foster children often arrive with complex emotional and behavioral needs. The Villages provides foster families with free access to virtual behavioral health services and medication-related support through our Telehealth program — available to foster children and other family members in the home with Medicaid across Indiana.

No referral is required. Services are accessible from home, on a schedule that works for your family.

The Villages’ Zero2Three division provides specialized support for foster children ages 0–3, including developmental evaluations, targeted case management, occupational therapy, and infant mental health therapy.

For foster parents caring for very young children, this means having dedicated early childhood experts in your corner — people who understand the unique developmental needs of infants and toddlers.

The Villages works toward the goal of every child, youth, and family flourishing in safe, nurturing environments. Sometimes, this looks like a child finding a permanent home through adoption.

The Villages is fully licensed to support adoptions through foster care. For every step in the process, we will guide you and your family as you welcome a new person member into your family.
