ANNA
Older Youth Services
At just 21, Anna has faced more challenges than many do in a lifetime. Growing up in and out of foster care, she spent her teen years in a group home, learning to navigate life largely on her own. Now a young, single mother to a nearly two-year-old son and expecting another child, Anna is determined to create a secure and stable future for her family. With the unwavering support of her Villages case worker, whom she describes as “patient and awesome,” Anna has worked tirelessly to achieve her goals. She’s secured her driver’s license, maintained steady employment, and recently earned her CNA license—opening the door to a promising career in healthcare. Anna’s resilience and hard work are a testament to her strength and dedication to providing a better life for her children.
ISLE & MOISES
Healthy Families
Isle and Moises began their journey as first-time parents with a mix of excitement and anxiety. Enrolling in The Villages’ Healthy Families program during Isle’s pregnancy, they found invaluable support from their case worker, Jena. With her help, they received essential baby supplies and resources to help them navigate the challenges of new parenthood. Jena’s weekly visits offered guidance and comfort, helping Isle manage her pregnancy anxiety and learn what to expect as their son Nico grew. Reflecting on their experience, Isle shared, “The Villages has impacted our little family in great ways… Jena has been very helpful and kind since the day I first met her, providing us with the support and information first-time parents need. We are very thankful for Jena and the program.”
CHRISTIAN
Foster Care
Christian’s story is one of resilience, growth, and the power of connection. At 17, Christian has spent his entire life in the child welfare system, including a disrupted adoption that led him back into care. While living with foster parent Antonio, Christian struggled to express his feelings and emotions and ultimately chose to move to a new placement. However, months later, he courageously expressed love, gratitude, and a desire to reconcile with Antonio in an Instagram post. Antonio saw the post and consulted with The Villages to explore the possibility of Christian’s return. Through open communication and trust, Christian and Antonio have rebuilt their relationship and recently celebrated Christian’s adoption; a long-awaited moment of permanence and belonging.
